About Us

Jutta & Glen Jealouse - Owners/Operators

“This is not just a business. This is our home. This is a place where every horse is going to be happy, due to exceptional care and individual attention. People will come to meet, ride and compete here. It is a happy gathering place where we enjoy ourselves with our horses. For some it will be a journey to pursue
excellence, for others a time to just have fun. Whatever goal it might be, it will be just right. Much like the camaraderie at a ski hill, at the end of the day-we want people to say, “Wasn’t that wonderful?””

Jutta started riding later on in her life. She took her first riding lesson after her third son was born. Her passion is Dressage. She is very proud of her lovely horses, Hannah, Moritz, Greta, Annabelle, Ezra, Specki and the newest addition Rubien, who has been born this year. Glen has been incredible supportive with the horses. Jutta is well known around Kamloops as a role model for women in the mining industry, in which she is still involved with as a consultant. Glen had a successful business in the forestry consulting industry for many years. Together they lend their warmth, generosity, work ethic and astute business sense to make the centre a model of integrity in the equestrian industry.

They long to share their love affair with horses with first-time riders and seasoned equestrians. Glen and Jutta have three sons; Daniel, Nicholas, and Christopher. They also have three dogs - Shaq, Rufus and Charlie all of whom you are likely to meet during your visits here.

Tracy Comte- Resident Instructor

Level 1 Equine Canada Certified Coach, NCCP Level, Chris Irwin, Gold Riding, Bronze Ground level

“My horse career started over 20 years ago in the northern region of B.C. in the small town of Smithers. Though it was isolated, and the riding season was short, I was privileged to have very good instructors to guide me in the early years. I was a member of the Bulkley Valley Pony Club, and moved up through the ranks to achieve my "B-2" Level."

I moved to Kamloops in 1993 and quickly made contacts in the area to continue training. Kamloops has offered many opportunities for working with young horses, and my skills have improved significantly over the years. I have had success with developing multiple young horses and selling them to the appropriate buyers. I have also enjoyed success in both the Hunter and Jumper show rings at the coast (Thunderbird, Southlands, Milner Downs) with several championship awards and a BCHJA Provincial recognition award in 2006 as well. All of these achievements have been on young horses in their first or second show seasons! One of my favorite horses I developed was good enough to show at Spruce Meadows in the 1.10 meter division in 2004!!

In the last two years, I have revisited a past love of mine, Dressage. I have enjoyed a wonderful competitive came back, earning several Championships, and Reserve Championships, at both local shows and coastal competitions.

I am always continuing to broaden my education base for working with young horses. In 2007 I participated in the Chris Irwin - Discover Your Horsepower clinics with great success. I achieved bronze level certification for groundwork, and jumped right into the Silver level for riding in just 3 sessions. I have been able to take these skills and apply them to the horses I train with excellent results. Just recently I was awarded the “Gold” level riding in this program, a privilege that is shared with only 14 other riders in the world a the moment.

I pride myself in giving young horses confidence, and a strong base, to go on and be good competitors in the Hunter/Jumper ring, or Dressage ring, whichever discipline best suits them. I have great success in taking horses to “big” horse shows and developing the resume they need to increase their sale value."

Joyan Winter

 EC Certified Level 1 Coach

Joyan’s horse showing career has focused on working hunter as she especially enjoys the balance, rhythm and style this discipline emphasizes. She has ventured onto the wild side as well – galloping and grooming race horses in Vancouver, packing on horseback into hunting camps in the Kootenays, and range riding in the North Thompson.

Joyan has participated in Chris Irwin and natural horsemanship clinics and incorporates some of these methods and philosophies into her training.

Joyan’s lessons consist of creative exercises using obstacles and small jumps to keep learning fun for the rider and interesting for the horse. She stresses correct equitation basics for the rider in a positive, supportive manner; and systematic training for the horse in manageable increments. Each lesson builds on the previous one – so that horse and rider increase in confidence and develop as a team.
